With just one signal, the analyzer is able to derive variability, according to J D Jindal, chief coordinator of the analyzer department.
The parameter include heart rate, respiration rate, stroke volume, cardiac output and peripheral blood flow in upper extremities in a quietly lying down subject.
“In addition, the same hardware with the help of different software packages could be used to diagnose peripheral vascular occlusive diseases in out patient departments and monitor cardiac output continuously in the intensive care unit”, Jindal told PTI.
“Encouraged by the study on various parameters, the department took keen interest to look for significant changes in the autonomic response of the human body with homoeopathic medicines in higher dilution,” he said.
“We observed that significant changes occur in variability spectrum after the administration of the homeopathic medicines. Also the changes observed are different for different medicines,” he said.
Replying to a query why the department chose to study the response of homoeopaths medicine, Jindal said “Although the homoeopathic medicine of the 12th or higher potency does not contain even one atom or molecule of the medicinal substance and still cure most of the diseases, no specific study was conclusively evidenced significant difference between the homoeopathic medicines and pure solvent till today.”
“Furthermore, the efforts to record changes caused by these medicines in physiological parameters are also highly specific in nature and can not be reproduced on demand.” he added.
Considering these limitations, the ‘medical analyser’ has recorded variability in heart rate and peripheral blood flow in 24 unbiased control subjects before and after the administration of homoeopathic medicine in 30,000 and 10,000 potency, Jindal said.
“The observations are important as they are recordable and reproducible and no specificity is required in choosing the control subject or the medicine,” he said.
Secondly, these changes are brought about by the homoeopathic preparation having no material existence even at atomic or molecular level, he said and added that there was a scope to document specific autonomic responses during systematic proving of the drug to act as template during patient management.
“Medical analyzer system has a potential to act as a tool for unfolding mystery of action of material-less medicine,” the BARC scientist added.
